Viele Menschen glauben, dass die Idee der digitalen Währung in einer bargeldlosen Gesellschaft in Zeiten des Coronavirus eine gute Idee sei, weil berührungsloses Bezahlen sauberer wäre als die Nutzung von Bargeld. Viele Unternehmen sind bereits dabei, die digitale Währung zur einzigen Transaktionsform zu machen, die sie einsetzen werden, damit sich ihre Kunden und Mitarbeiter sicher fühlen – obwohl in Deutschland [Anm. DWB-Redaktion: Und auch in der Schweiz und anderswo] allein Bargeld das einzige gesetzliche Zahlungsmittel ist.
Tatsächlich weisen manche Unternehmen bereits Kunden ab, die nur mit Bargeld bezahlen wollen. „Berührungslos“ bedeutet für diese „virenfrei“.
Vorgebliche Sicherheit wird auf Kosten der Freiheit erkauft.
